Australia has a strong international reputation in Pairs Skating, with triple Olympic representatives Stephen Carr and Danielle McGrath, who represented Australia at the Winter Olympics in 1992, 1994 and 1998.

The 2005 Australian Pair Champions were Emma Brien and Stuart Beckingham (NSW). The couple retired at the end of 2005 season and no Senior Pairs contested the 2006, 2007 or 2008 National Championship.
