GET INTO SYNCHRO

2008 National Champions: Fire on Ice (NSW)

Modern Synchronized skating is a fun way to participate in skating. Teams comprise up to 16 skaters and compete at local, State, National and International levels.

There are Adult teams, as well as Novice, Junior and Senior teams.

Some skaters who compete in synchronized also compete in singles as well!

Modern synchronized skating dates from 1956 when Dr. Richard Porter, of Ann Arbor, Michigan USA, organized a group of skaters with the express intent of forming a team. Dr. Porter's "Hockettes" provided end of period entertainment at University of Michigan ice hockey games. Today, the sport is enjoyed world-wide and in Australia synchro is enjoyed across the country.
